When I Was in Japan #1 : Fujinomiya

After all these years, finally, I decided to write -anything, probably- on this blog. Again. (I'll try my best). Well, -let me borrow Austin Kleon's words- mostly you might find me talking and telling my own story to a previous version of myself.

Alright, let's begin.

On December 2015, I went to Japan for the first time. Yeay! I didn't plan to go to Shizuoka, yet I ended up in Fujinomiya. The very basic reason was because my dad -hey dad- said something like, "Masa ke Jepang nggak liat Gunung Fuji".

So, when winter wind has just started to blow, my friend and I took the shinkansen from Shinagawa to Shin-Fuji station. The original plan was going to Kawaguchiko. However, the bus' schedule, time, and the distance to go to Kawaguchiko were not possible to us to go there, who just want to spend a day in Shizuoka. By the way, as people said, Kawaguchiko is one of the best place to see the Mount Fuji. But, hey, those things didn't stop us from exploring and enjoying other places. Therefore, we asked an employee at the information centre about any other places that we could visit. She suggested us to go to Fujinomiya. So, off we went. But, before that..... don't get me wrong, the woman was so kind and helpful, she was very detail about the information, she gave us a map, and she kept talking and talking and even gave us the best way to go back to Tokyo. Then after the long talk, she suddenly said "oh, you better get going now, you have two minutes before the bus go." Yes, you're right. We were running like crazy humans. That particular moment was a moment where a quote like "run for your life" was relevant to us.

In Fujinomiya, I went to Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha Shrine. Its located not really far from the bus stop and the Fujinomiya station. It was lovely to walked down the not-so-crowded street like the one in Shibuya once in a while. The universe was so kind on that day. The wind was ok, the sun was there, the sky was so clear and blue, and I was happy.

Cheers,
L

And.. here you go. The one and only Mt. Fuji. Beautiful, right? I took this photo at the entrance of the shrine.

PS: I think no matter what season you plan to go to Japan, you'll still get to enjoy the beauty of Japan. So, when are you going to Japan?
